About
Myristyl isostearate — a smooth, cushiony emollient ester widely used in makeup and skincare. Solid CIR safety record.
Myristyl isostearate (CAS 94247-26-4) is the ester of myristyl (C14) alcohol and isostearic acid. It functions as a medium-weight emollient with excellent spreadability and pigment-wetting capability, making it common in lipsticks, foundations, and creams. The CIR Expert Panel reviewed alkyl isostearate esters as a class and concluded they are safe as used in cosmetic products. Skin irritation and sensitization are uncommon; comedogenicity concerns appear mainly at high loadings in very oily skin.
