Nickel chloride is a nickel salt classified as a skin sensitization hazard (H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction) and suspected carcinogen. The EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 prohibits nickel and its compounds from cosmetic products due to their sensitizing potential and documented contribution to contact allergy. Nickel is one of the most common causes of allergic contact dermatitis. Use in cosmetic formulations is prohibited.
