About
Oestrogens is a cosmetic ingredient. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Estrogenic hormones including estradiol, estrone, and conjugated estrogens are classified as endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) under EU Regulation 1223/2009 Annex II, which prohibits their use in cosmetic products. The compounds can affect hormonal balance, reproductive development, and have been associated with increased risk of hormone-sensitive cancers. EUCosmSAGE and other regulatory bodies have identified estrogens as substances of very high concern due to their endocrine disrupting properties. There is no safe cosmetic use for these potent hormonal agents.
Known concerns
- EU Annex II banned - endocrine disrupting substances
- Cancer promotion in hormone-sensitive tissues
- Reproductive and developmental toxicity
- Severe hormonal imbalance risk
- No safe concentration for cosmetic application
