About
A natural fatty acid amide found in skin and hair — acts as a lubricating and conditioning agent, similar to what your body already produces.
Oleamide (cis-9-Octadecenamide) is the amide of oleic acid with a primary amine. It is structurally similar to erucamide and other fatty acid amides that are naturally present in the skin, where they function as endocannabinoids and skin lipids. In cosmetics, it is used as a viscosity-controlling agent, slip agent, and skin/hair-conditioning agent. It gives formulations a smooth, lubricious feel and can reduce tackiness. Oleamide is well-tolerated, non-irritating at cosmetic use levels, and has no restrictions in any major regulatory jurisdiction.
