About
A short-chain ethoxylated oleyl alcohol surfactant primarily used as an emulsifier and spreading agent in cosmetic formulations, offering a balance between oil solubility and water dispersibility.
Poly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl), α-9-(Z)-octadecenyl-ω-hydroxy with an average of 6 mol EO. Functions as a nonionic surfactant and co-emulsifier in cosmetic products. No EU regulatory restrictions under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. The relatively short EO chain increases lipophilic character compared to higher-EO homologues, which may marginally increase skin penetration of co-formulated ingredients.
Skin benefits
- Emulsifier with good spreading properties
- Effective in lipid-rich formulations
Known concerns
- Low EO chain may marginally increase skin penetration of other ingredients
