About
Prickly pear seed oil — an antioxidant-rich, linoleic-heavy plant oil. Lightweight, nourishing, and well tolerated.
Opuntia streptacantha (prickly pear) seed oil is cold-pressed from the seeds of the cactus fruit. Its fatty acid profile is remarkably linoleic-rich (~60%) with notable tocopherol (vitamin E) content, giving it antioxidant and barrier-supportive properties. Closely related to the better-known Opuntia ficus-indica seed oil. CIR has not individually reviewed Opuntia oils but plant triglyceride oils of this profile are considered safe cosmetic emollients. No Annex II/III listing; no GHS classification. Market authenticity (adulteration with cheaper oils) is a sourcing concern because of the high price point.
