About
A fatty amine derived from palm oil, used for hair conditioning and antistatic effects. Best in rinse-off products.
Palmamine is a fatty amine derived from palm oil (typically a mixture of C16-C18 primary amines). It functions as a hair-conditioning, antistatic, and cationic surfactant precursor. Cationic fatty amines are substantive to hair and skin, depositing a conditioning film and neutralizing static charge. Like other primary fatty amines, palmamine can be mildly irritating to skin and eyes in concentrated form, and is best suited to rinse-off applications (conditioners, masks) rather than leave-on use. Palm sourcing raises sustainability and supply-chain concerns (deforestation, orangutan habitat loss); RSPO-certified sources are recommended. No SCCS opinion specific to palmamine located.
