About
Palmitoyl alanine — an amino-acid-fatty-acid conjugate that conditions skin and assists emulsification. Gentle and well tolerated.
Palmitoyl Alanine (CAS 56255-31-3) is the condensation product of palmitic acid (a C16 fatty acid) with the amino acid alanine, forming an N-acyl amino acid. This class — represented by palmitoyl glycine, sarcosine, glutamate and alanine — provides biomimetic conditioning, mild surfactant and emulsifier functions that are kinder to skin than many sulfate-type surfactants. Palmitoyl alanine is used for skin-conditioning, emollient-boosting and mild cleansing effects at typical low cosmetic levels. CIR has reviewed palmitoyl-amino-acid analogs favorably and the class carries a low-irritation, low-sensitization record. Supplier purity controls for residual fatty-acid and salt impurities are important. No GHS hazards at cosmetic grade.
