About

A lipophilic hair-conditioning peptide modified with palmitic acid and an amide terminus, designed to deposit at the hair surface for shine, smoothness, and damage repair benefits.

This ingredient is the product of reacting palmitic acid with a synthetic peptide consisting of sh-Nonapeptide-15 and Alanine, where the C-terminus is amidated. The palmitoylation provides affinity for the hair shaft (which is rich in keratin-associated proteins and surface lipids), enabling substantive deposition from rinse-off and leave-in hair-care formulations. The EU cosmetics regulation does not restrict palmitoylated nonapeptides or C-terminal amides in hair-care applications. Palmitic acid is a common cosmetic ingredient; the sh-Nonapeptide-15 sequence (based on human Interleukin-8 fragment) has no safety restrictions in the EU. The amide terminus is a standard, chemically stable peptide modification.
