About
A higher-molecular-weight PEG glyceride that works as an emulsifier, suitable for more viscous cosmetic formulations.
PEG-10 Glyceryl Isostearate contains 10 mol ethylene oxide per glyceride unit. The increased EO chain provides stronger hydrophilic character, making it effective in emulsifying systems. EU Regulation 1223/2009 permits this ingredient; no specific restrictions exist in Annex II or III. Standard purity specifications for PEG compounds apply (low residual EO and 1,4-dioxane). The higher EO degree means it is more water-soluble than lower-EO variants.
Skin benefits
- Excellent emulsification properties for oil-in-water systems
- Provides emollient properties and skin softening
- Helps create stable, consistent formulations
Known concerns
- Potential for residual ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane
- Water solubility increases with EO chain length
