About
PEG-11 ethoxylate of cocoa butter glycerides — a mild non-ionic emulsifier/solubilizer. Generally well-tolerated, with a 1,4-dioxane purity caveat.
PEG-11 Cocoa Butter Glycerides is produced by ethoxylating the glycerides of Theobroma cacao (cocoa butter) with an average of 11 moles of ethylene oxide. It functions as a mild non-ionic emulsifier, solubilizer, and skin-feel modifier. As with all PEG ethoxylates, the main purity concern is residual 1,4-dioxane, which IARC classifies as Group 2B and which reputable suppliers control to low-ppm levels through vacuum stripping. CIR panel has reviewed PEG cocoa glycerides and considered them safe as used with limitations on damaged skin. EU CosIng lists it without restriction.
