About

A 15-mole ethoxylated soy fatty amine — more water-soluble than its PEG-8/10 cousins; same PEG/nitrosamine caveats.

PEG-15 soyamine is a soy-derived secondary fatty amine ethoxylated with ~15 moles of ethylene oxide, giving higher water solubility and milder feel than lower-PEG analogues. It acts as a nonionic emulsifier and mild cationic-adjacent conditioner. The higher PEG mole count increases residual 1,4-dioxane risk from ethoxylation and the fatty secondary amine can form nitrosamines under unfavourable formulation conditions. CIR has reviewed PEG-fatty amines as safe with controls on these impurities.

Skin benefits

  • Higher-mole ethoxylated soy amine — better water solubility and milder feel
  • Functions as emulsifier and conditioning surfactant
  • Can aid solubilisation of oils and silicones

Known concerns

  • PEG chain carries residual 1,4-dioxane risk
  • Fatty secondary-amine backbone may form trace nitrosamines
  • Persistence and aquatic toxicity concerns
