About

A very high-molecular-weight PEG diester functioning as a nonionic emulsifier with minimal skin penetration. Considered safe for cosmetic use.

PEG-175 Diisostearate is a high-degree ethoxylated diester of isostearic acid, serving as a nonionic emulsifier and skin-conditioning agent in cosmetic products. Its high ethylene oxide content reduces the potential for 1,4-dioxane contamination relative to lower-EO analogues. No EU restrictions apply under Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annexes II–VI.

Skin benefits

  • Effective emulsifier for oil-in-water systems
  • Leaves a lightweight, non-greasy feel on skin

Known concerns

  • Minimal concern at high EO chain length
