About

A low-ethoxylation sorbitan trioleate ester used as an emulsifier in cosmetic formulations, derived from sorbitol and oleic acid with a short 2 mol PEG chain that gives it lipophilic character.

Sorbitan tri-9-(Z)-octadecenoate PEG-2 ether, a sorbitan fatty acid ester ethoxylate. Functions as a nonionic emulsifier and W/O emulsifier co-surfactant. Not listed in EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annex II or III; appears in CosIng without restriction. The low EO chain and tri-oleate structure make it more lipophilic than polysorbate analogues. Adequately studied for cosmetic safety with no major concerns at use concentrations.

Skin benefits

  • Effective W/O emulsifier co-agent
  • Good oil phase compatibility
