About
A ricinoleic acid-derived PEG ester that boosts emulsification performance — particularly effective in body care and haircare products.
PEG-20 Diricinoleate is the polyethylene glycol (20 EO) diester of ricinoleic acid (a hydroxylated fatty acid from castor oil). The ricinoleate base provides unique thickening and emulsification properties, and the 20-unit PEG chain makes it water-soluble and relatively mild. Diricinoleates are known for their excellent spreadability and smooth skin feel. The ricinoleic acid backbone is itself a known skin-conditioning agent. PEG-20 is the upper end of the PEG range used in cosmetics; concern about potential residual monomers increases slightly with higher PEG chain length, but this ingredient has a long history of safe use in body lotions, creams, and haircare formulations.
