About
A higher-ethoxylated version of oleamine (25 EO units) with surfactant and emulsifying applications. The higher PEG chain length does not eliminate sensitization concerns associated with amine-functional ethoxylates.
PEG-25 Oleamine contains approximately 25 moles of ethylene oxide per molecule, making it more hydrophilic than lower-ethoxylated versions. Amine-functional PEG derivatives such as this have been flagged by the SCCS for potential sensitization. The increased ethoxylation may slightly reduce direct skin penetration but does not eliminate concerns related to residual impurities from the manufacturing process. Subject to general cosmetic ingredient regulations without specific EU Annex restrictions.
Skin benefits
- Nonionic surfactant functionality
- Emulsifying properties for oil-water systems
- Product texture enhancement
Known concerns
- Documented sensitization concerns for amine-added PEGs
- 1,4-dioxane residual contamination
- Ethylene oxide manufacturing residues
- Potential for skin and respiratory irritation
