PEG-3 COCAMINE
Safety score · 0–100
Moderate
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
An ethoxylated fatty amine from coconut oil that can act as a surfactant or emulsifier, with some nitrosamine sensitivity.
PEG-3 Cocamine is the polyethylene glycol ether of cocamine (primary amine from coconut oil) with approximately 3 mol EO. Fatty amines and their ethoxylates can theoretically form nitrosamines in the presence of nitrosating agents, which is a concern under EU cosmetics regulation. However, PEG-3 Cocamine is not specifically listed in EU Annex II or III. Residual free amine content is the key safety parameter.
