A waxy emulsifier derived from PEG-3 and palmitic acid — helps blend oil and water phases while leaving skin feeling soft rather than sticky.
PEG-3 dipalmitate is a diester formed from polyethylene glycol-3 and two molecules of palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid, C16:0). The result is an emulsifier with moderate HLB value that is solid or waxy at room temperature. It functions as an emulsifying agent and skin-conditioning agent. The palmitic acid component is a natural fatty acid with an excellent safety profile; the short PEG chain contributes to low irritation potential.
