About
A PEG-ester of coconut fatty acids used as a mild surfactant and refatting agent. CIR-safe in rinse-off; ≤10% leave-on. Dioxane purity depends on supplier.
PEG-30 glyceryl cocoate is an ethoxylated glycerol ester of coconut fatty acids (30 moles EO). It acts as a solubilizer, surfactant and mild co-emollient that refats skin and hair after cleansing. The 1999 CIR Final Report on PEG-7/30/40/78/80 glyceryl cocoates concluded they are safe in rinse-off at reported concentrations and safe up to 10% in leave-on products. No dermal sensitization at 10%, non-phototoxic at 50%. Main residual-purity concern is 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide, both now strictly limited by EU/Health-Canada specifications. Use ≤5% typical.
