PEG-4 DIISOSTEARATE

78

Safety score · 0–100

Fine

Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.

Similar to the PEG-2 version but with a longer PEG chain — slightly more water-soluble, offering better emulsification and a lighter skin feel.

PEG-4 diisostearate has the same diisostearic acid core as the PEG-2 variant but is ethoxylated with an average of 4 ethylene oxide units per molecule. This slightly longer PEG chain increases its hydrophilic character, making it a more effective emulsifier and improving compatibility with aqueous phases. The branched isostearic acid component maintains the liquid texture and good skin feel.

Skin benefits

  • Emulsifies formulations effectively
