About
A nonionic surfactant based on oleic acid (plant-derived) used in hair and skin formulations; safe overall with minor concerns about ethoxylation byproducts.
Polyethylene glycol oleamide (5 EO) is a nonionic surfactant derived from oleic acid that enhances foam stability and product texture in cleansing formulations. The 5-mole EO chain provides good water solubility while maintaining mildness on skin. Not restricted in EU cosmetic regulation; residual 1,4-dioxane from ethoxylation is controlled under standard industry purification.
Skin benefits
- provides skin smoothing and conditioning
- improves product texture and stability
Known concerns
- trace 1,4-dioxane impurity from ethoxylation process
