About
An emulsifier or texture helper that improves spread and rinse-off. It is usually fine in well-made formulas, but very sensitive skin may not love it.
This ingredient is an ethoxylated emulsifier or surfactant used to help oils disperse, improve cleansing, or stabilize emulsions. The main safety issue is formulation-dependent irritation, especially around the eyes or on damaged skin, and ethoxylated materials also require tight control of residual processing impurities such as ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane. In normal finished products they are usually acceptable, but they are not the gentlest ingredient class.
