Phenethyl butyrate (CAS 103-52-6) is the simple ester of 2-phenylethanol and butyric acid, used at low percentages in fragrances and flavors for sweet, floral, peach-rose notes. It is approved as a flavoring substance by JECFA/FEMA and is listed in IFRA/RIFM databases for fragrance use. No significant GHS hazards beyond mild eye/skin irritation at neat concentrations; not a classified sensitizer. Metabolized rapidly by esterases to the parent alcohol and butyrate. Not an EU Annex III declarable allergen.
