About
Phytosphingosine Lactate is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Phytosphingosine Lactate is the lactate salt of phytosphingosine, a sphingolipid naturally present in the skin. The lactate anion (from lactic acid) provides additional skin conditioning and mild humectant properties. CosIng lists no EU restrictions for this ingredient. Like phytosphingosine itself, it demonstrates anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and barrier-repair activities. The salt form is more water-soluble than the free base, making it easier to formulate in aqueous cosmetic preparations. It is considered safe for all skin types including sensitive and compromised skin.
