About
A high-molecular-weight cyanoacrylate polymer that behaves more like a film or adhesive material than an active skincare ingredient. The polymer is much less concerning than the reactive monomer it comes from.
Poly(Butyl Cyanoacrylate) is a polymeric cyanoacrylate material used for film-forming or protective performance. Once polymerised, exposure to the reactive cyanoacrylate monomer is much lower, which is why polymers in this class are generally safer than their starting monomers. The remaining caution is mostly about formulation quality, residue, and the lack of broad cosmetic skin-benefit evidence.
Function
Skin benefits
- Forms a protective surface film
Known concerns
