About
A naturally-derived antimicrobial polypeptide from Streptomyces albulus, used as a food-grade and cosmetic preservative with excellent safety profile.
Polyepsilon lysine (ε-Poly-L-lysine) is a naturally occurring homo-polyamino acid produced by bacterial fermentation. It is GRAS (Generally Recognised As Safe) approved in food by FDA and EFSA, and widely used as an antimicrobial preservative. The HCl salt improves water solubility. No restriction applies under EU Regulation 1223/2009; it is not listed in Annex II (banned) or III (restricted). The polymer is biodegradable.
