About
Film-forming polymer that conditions skin and hair; used in long-wear formulations.
Polyglyceryl-2 diisostearate/IPDI copolymer is a high molecular weight polymer formed from isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and polyglyceryl-2 diisostearate. As a polymer, it does not penetrate the skin barrier due to its large molecular size. IPDI monomer residual is restricted in cosmetics (Annex II/1344 substances), but residual monomer levels in properly cured polymer are minimal. The ingredient is used in color cosmetics and skincare for film-forming properties. No CLP hazards are classified for the polymer itself.
Skin benefits
- Film-forming for long-wear cosmetics
- Viscosity control
Known concerns
- Residual IPDI monomer concern (must be below restricted levels)
- Not suitable for spray products due to inhalation risk
