About
A PEG-free polyglyceryl emulsifier — seven caprylic acids esterified to a 20-unit polyglycerol. Gentle, skin-friendly.
Polyglyceryl-20 heptacaprylate is a non-ionic emulsifier made from polyglycerol (20 glycerol units) partially esterified with seven caprylic acid (C8) chains. It is a PEG-free alternative to ethoxylated emulsifiers, increasingly used in clean-beauty formulations. The polyglyceryl backbone is made from glycerin — a food-grade starting material — and caprylic esters come from coconut/palm kernel. CIR has reviewed the polyglyceryl ester family broadly and considers them safe as used. No INCI-specific monograph for this exact ester. Typical dosing 0.5-5% as primary or co-emulsifier.
