About
An emulsifier made by esterifying polyglycerol (3 glycerin units) with coconut fatty acids. Mild, ECOCERT-accepted, and used in gentle cleansers and natural creams.
Polyglyceryl-3 cocoate is a non-ionic emulsifier produced by esterifying triglycerol with fatty acids from coconut oil. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review has published a group safety assessment of polyglyceryl fatty-acid esters (2021) concluding these materials are safe in the current practices of use and concentration; polyglycerols themselves (CIR 2015) are also considered safe. In cosmetics it is used at 1–10% as a primary emulsifier for O/W emulsions and as a solubilizer in gentle cleansers. Plant-origin, biodegradable, and approved under ECOCERT. Not a known allergen or endocrine disruptor.
