POLYGLYCERYL-3 DICAPRATE
Safety score · 0–100
Good
Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
A lighter emulsifier with two capric acid chains on a short polyglycerin backbone, offering good solubility and a less occlusive feel.
Polyglyceryl-3 Dicaprate is the diester of polyglycerin-3 with capric acid (C10), making it more water-soluble than stearate-based emulsifiers. The shorter fatty acid chain gives it a lighter texture and lower occlusion. It functions as a nonionic surfactant and emulsifier. Capric acid (also called decanoic acid) is a medium-chain fatty acid with some antimicrobial properties, adding mild preservative support to formulations. No EU restrictions apply.
