About
A mild, plant-derived surfactant made from hexaglycerol and caprylic acid. Used to cleanse and solubilize. Gentle enough for micellar waters and eye products.
Polyglyceryl-6 caprylate is an ester formed by linking six glycerin units (hexaglycerol) with caprylic acid (C8), a fatty acid found in coconut and palm kernel oils. It functions as a nonionic surfactant, mild cleanser, emulsifier, and co-solubilizer commonly used in micellar waters, makeup removers, and gentle facial cleansers. The 2016 Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) panel deemed polyglyceryl fatty acid esters safe as used in cosmetics when formulated to be non-irritating; extensive dermatological testing shows very low rates of irritation or sensitization. Not on any EU Annex II/III restriction list.
