About

A silicone–silk–pea-protein hybrid polymer used as a conditioning film. Generally mild; silk allergy-sensitive users should note composition.

Polysilicone-27 is a condensation polymer of glycidoxypropyltriethoxysilane, C6-10 alkyl triethoxysilane, and tetraethoxysilane with hydrolysed pea protein and hydrolysed silk protein components. It functions as a skin- and hair-conditioning film-former, marketed for protein-based repair claims. Like other silicone polymers, it is chemically stable and not meaningfully skin-absorbed. The silk protein component is a possible allergen for silk-sensitive users, and the silane synthesis route can leave trace ethoxy-silane residues in poorly purified grades. Peer-reviewed cosmetic safety data for this specific INCI are limited.
