About
A highly crosslinked polyurea polymer that forms flexible, water-resistant films, popular in long-wear and nail products. Like all polyureas it is essentially inert once cured; the only practical concern is residual isocyanate if the polymer is poorly purified.
Function
Skin benefits
- Forms flexible, durable films on nails and skin
- Improves wear and water resistance
- Helps suspend pigments and active ingredients
Known concerns
- Residual isocyanate / urea monomer concern if purification poor
- Limited specific toxicology — niche cosmetic polymer
