About

An alkoxylated amine surfactant used as an emulsifier and antistatic agent in cosmetic formulations, with typical PEG-related considerations.

PPG-1/PEG-1 Stearamide is an ethoxylated and propoxylated derivative of stearylamine (stearamide). Like other PEG/PPG compounds, it may contain trace residues of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, which are regulated concerns under EU cosmetics. The SCCS has expressed concerns about 1,4-dioxane contamination in ethoxylated ingredients. PPG-1/PEG-1 Stearamine functions as a surfactant and emulsifier in cosmetics. It is not specifically restricted in EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009, but like all cosmetic ingredients, it must be safe for use. The primary concern is residual ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane from the ethoxylation process. Suitable for use in rinse-off products with appropriate purity controls.
