About
A water-soluble polymer that draws moisture to the skin and gives formulations a smooth, silky glide — commonly used in moisturizers and serums.
PPG-20 (polypropylene glycol-20) is an oligomer of propylene oxide with an average degree of polymerization of 20. It functions primarily as a humectant and skin-conditioning agent. Polypropylene glycols are generally regarded as low-toxicity and are widely used in personal care; the PEG-like structure makes them water-soluble and non-irritating at typical concentrations.
Skin benefits
- Attracts and retains moisture in the skin
- Improves product texture and glide
Known concerns
- May cause mild eye irritation in rinse-off products
