About
Kudzu root powder, a traditional herbal ingredient used in East Asian skincare for its antioxidant and circulation-supporting properties.
Pueraria lobata root contains isoflavonoids including puerarin (an 8-C-glucoside of daidzein), daidzin, and daidzein. These phytoestrogens are not restricted under EU cosmetic regulation, but their hormonal modulation potential is noted. The CIR Expert Panel has assessed Pueraria lobata extract as safe for cosmetic use. Kudzu root has a long history of safe dietary use in Asia. The phytoestrogenic activity is considerably weaker than pharmaceutical estrogens.
Skin benefits
- Puerarin activates Nrf2 antioxidant pathway in skin
- Daidzin inhibits tyrosinase for skin brightening
- Isoflavones support collagen and reduce photoaging
Known concerns
- Contains phytoestrogens; precautionary use advised in pregnancy and breastfeeding products
- Daidzein content may affect hormone-sensitive skin conditions
