About
A waxy extract from quince peel and fruit — emollient and lightly film-forming, with a pleasant, gentle character.
Pyrus Cydonia Peel/Fruit Cera (CAS 90106-03-9) is the waxy, lipophilic fraction of quince peel and flesh. Quince (Cydonia oblonga; INCI still uses the older Pyrus cydonia) contributes natural fatty esters, long-chain alcohols, pectin, and polyphenols (chlorogenic acid, quercetin glycosides). In cosmetics it serves as an emollient, structuring wax, and antioxidant adjunct. Food history is strong (traditional jam/preserve fruit) giving broad tolerance. EU CosIng lists it as a skin-conditioning agent without restrictions. Modern formal toxicology is sparse but there are no mechanistic red flags.
