About

A conditioning polymer for hair and skin — provides lasting softness through its positive charge that bonds to surfaces. Based on lauryl and ethoxylated amines.

Quaternium-98 is a complex quaternary ammonium salt prepared by reacting a 23-mol ethoxylate of lauryl propylenediamine with lauric acid, followed by quaternization with dimethyl sulfate. It functions as a skin emollient, hair conditioner, and skin conditioner. The cationic charge enables substantive binding to negatively charged hair and skin surfaces. No GHS hazards or EU restrictions apply. Quaternary ammonium compounds are widely used in conditioning products with established safety profiles.
