A lab-made fusion peptide used for skin or hair conditioning claims, with limited real-world safety data.
r-(Tripeptide-70 s-Rainbow Trout Oligopeptide-1 sh-Polypeptide-50) is a single chain fusion peptide, produced by fermentation in E. coli. The starting gene is synthesized by the fusion of the gene from Tripeptide-70, sr-Rainbow Trout Oligopeptide-1 and sh-Polypeptide-50. The fusion peptide contains 270 amino acids which may contain disulfide bonds and/or glycosylation, and consists of the proper sequence of the 20 standard amino acid. This is a recombinant fusion peptide produced by fermentation, so dermal exposure is usually low and the molecule is used at small concentrations. The main uncertainty is not classic toxicity but limited independent safety data for this exact sequence and the need for tight manufacturing control.
