About
A cosmetic ingredient. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Catalytic reformer fractionator residues are heavy petroleum refinery streams containing polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Under EU REACH, these are classified as suspected carcinogens and SVHC candidates. The EU Cosmetics Regulation restricts the use of petroleum-derived streams containing PAHs in cosmetic products, with specific provisions against using these streams as ingredients at concentrations ≥0.1% in mixtures. They present significant environmental hazard (H410 - very toxic to aquatic life).
Known concerns
- Contains polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons
- Suspected carcinogen
- Environmental hazard H410
- Prohibited in cosmetic products at ≥0.1%
