About
A yeast ferment produced with tourmaline mineral; the mineral-enriched fermentation creates unique bioactive metabolites with purported energising and protective skin effects.
Saccharomyces/Tourmaline Ferment is produced by fermenting Saccharomyces in the presence of tourmaline, a boron silicate mineral with piezoelectric properties. The fermentation in presence of mineral particles may alter the metabolite profile of the yeast ferment. Not specifically restricted in EU Regulation 1223/2009 Annex II or III. Saccharomyces ferments have an excellent cosmetic safety record. The addition of tourmaline (an inert mineral) adds mineral trace elements to the fermentation medium. The ingredient is used in premium skincare for energising and protective claims.
Skin benefits
- Unique metabolite profile from mineral-enriched fermentation
- Purported energising effect on skin
- Mineral trace element supplementation
Known concerns
- Limited specific safety data for tourmaline ferment combination
