Sasa bamboo leaf-and-stem water — a gentle hydrating distillate with a fresh green aroma. Very well tolerated.
Sasa Veitchii Leaf/Stem Water is the aqueous distillate from Kumazasa bamboo (Sasa veitchii) foliage and stems, a dwarf bamboo traditionally used in Japanese food-wrapping and folk medicine. The hydrosol carries low concentrations of volatile aromatic compounds, water-soluble polyphenols, and polysaccharides. In cosmetics it functions as a skin-conditioning water/solvent phase and a marketing-friendly alternative to plain water for freshness and traditional claims. Topical tolerance is excellent in both general and sensitive-skin populations. Main caveats are that it is essentially a hydrosol — active concentration is low — and that composition varies by season and distillation method. Rare grass-family allergen cross-reactivity is theoretically possible.
