Sh-Pentapeptide-6 Trifluoroacetate is a synthetic pentapeptide consisting of alanine, glycine, and proline residues, produced to be identical to portions of various collagen types. In the EU, synthetic peptides under 40 amino acids with no biological activity are considered safe for cosmetic use; no restriction exists in EU Annex II or III for this peptide class. The trifluoroacetate counterion is also considered safe at cosmetic concentrations. Peptides of this size do not penetrate intact skin barrier and have no sensitization potential.
