About
A gentle surfactant from coconut fatty acids joined to apple-derived amino acids. Mild, low-irritation cleanser often used in sulfate-free shampoos and sensitive-skin face washes.
Sodium cocoyl apple amino acids is the sodium salt of a condensation of coconut fatty acid chloride and a mix of amino acids isolated from apple juice. It is a mild anionic surfactant used as a foam booster and primary cleanser in sulfate-free cleansers, baby products and sensitive-skin lines. Related cocoyl amino-acid surfactants (e.g. sodium cocoyl glutamate) have CIR safety reviews reporting low irritation potential and no genotoxicity. Used typically at 1–15% in rinse-off products. No PubChem CID (mixture). Evidence level: moderate, based on read-across from the Cosmetic Ingredient Review on amino-acid alkyl amides.
