About

A dairy-derived postbiotic ferment from S. salivarius — used in probiotic oral-care formulations.

Streptococcus salivarius/hydrolyzed nonfat dry milk ferment is the inactivated fermentation product of S. salivarius grown on hydrolysed skim milk. S. salivarius (K12/M18 strains in particular) is a commensal oral bacterium studied for bacteriocin production that suppresses pathogenic streptococci and Actinobacteria. Cosmetic use is mostly in oral care and some microbiome-friendly skin formulations. Dairy allergens (casein, whey) must be disclosed. No CIR/SCCS monograph exists; generally considered low-risk based on food-grade analogues.
