About
A mineral ingredient that helps condition and maintain healthy-looking skin.
Strontium Chloride (SrCl₂, CAS 10476-85-4) is an inorganic salt used in oral care products for desensitizing teeth and in some soothing skincare formulations. CosIng lists oral care, skin conditioning, and soothing functions. The GHS profile includes H315 (skin irritation), H318 (serious eye damage — Danger), H335 (respiratory irritation), and notably H341 (suspected mutagenicity). The mutagenicity concern is the most significant flag. Strontium ions can substitute for calcium in biological systems. While strontium chloride hexahydrate has a long history in toothpaste (Sensodyne originally used it), the H341 classification warrants careful consideration.
