Styralyl Alcohol (alpha-methylbenzyl alcohol, also known as 1-phenylethanol) is an aromatic secondary alcohol with a floral, fruity-rose odor. It is used as a fragrance ingredient and is not restricted under EU cosmetic regulations. Unlike its oxidation product acetophenone, the parent alcohol form has relatively low toxicity. However, it may oxidize in air to form acetophenone.
