Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
An industrial tantalum alkoxide — a moisture-reactive precursor for thin-film coatings, not a cosmetic ingredient.
Tantalum Ethoxide and Tantalum Isopropoxide are metal-alkoxide precursors used in sol-gel and chemical-vapor-deposition processes to generate tantalum oxide (Ta2O5) thin films for capacitors, optical coatings and semiconductor applications. They are highly moisture-sensitive, reacting with water to generate heat and liberate the parent alcohol; under GHS they typically carry flammable-liquid and skin-corrosive classifications. There is no legitimate cosmetic function — no CIR/SCCS evaluation, no EU CosIng cosmetic role, and fundamental chemistry (aqueous-incompatibility, corrosive hydrolysis) makes cosmetic formulation impossible. Any appearance in a cosmetic ingredient taxonomy is almost certainly a data-sourcing artefact or marketing mis-registration.
