About
A mild amino acid-derived surfactant that helps cleans skin and hair by reducing surface tension, commonly used in shower gels and shampoos.
TEA-Cocoyl Sarcosinate is a triethanolamine salt of a coconut oil-derived fatty acid combined with sarcosine. EU Annex III entry 62 restricts its use when free sarcosine exceeds 0.5%. Generally regarded as safe and mild, it is widely used as a primary or secondary surfactant in rinse-off products. The ethoxylation process and residual free sarcosine are the main regulatory considerations.
Skin benefits
- mild cleansing
- foam boosting
- reduces irritation compared to sulfates
Known concerns
- residual free sarcosine at high concentration (EU Annex III/62 limit)
