About
A bark extract from Terminalia arjuna rich in triterpenoids and flavonoids used in Ayurveda for cardioprotective and anti-aging skin applications.
Terminalia Arjuna bark contains triterpenoids (arjunic acid, arjunolic acid), flavonoids (arjunolone, luteolin), gallic acid, and ellagic acid. Arjunic acid is a pentacyclic triterpene with documented anti-inflammatory and collagen-stimulating activity. The flavonoids inhibit MMP-1 and MMP-3, enzymes that degrade collagen in photoaged skin. Terminalia arjuna also shows tyrosinase inhibitory activity. Used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine; CosIng listed. The tannin content may cause mild irritation at high concentrations.
